What are the 54 Most Popular Temples in India, Asia?

We Indians are quite religious by heart. Most of us follow the Hindu religion, and our journey may not be complete unless we pay homage to famous temples in the city. Including four famous pilgrims (Char Dhams), there are 54 famous temples that you must visit. Though most of you may implant a picture of the temple of God, unless you visit it, you may feel incomplete.    

It’s interesting to know a little bit more about them. We have almost 30 temples in North India. South, East, West & Central India part consists of nearly 20 temples. All are culturally enriched heritage with soulful images of Indian gods in each one of them.

Renowned Temples in North India

The majority of the Famous Temples are there in the North Zone of India. With almost 30 popular Mandirs, it is undoubtedly one of the religious hubs of India. All of them are covered here.

Kashi Vishwanath and Shri Durga Temple, Varanasi (UP)  

Varanasi, formerly known as Banaras, is a city of temples. Besides other famous religious places, Kashi Vishwanath is one of the oldest and most famous UP temples. If you wish to travel from Delhi, then it will take around 12 hours by road. You also have a direct flight here if you want to save some time.

Total cost with stay in a budget room for three days & 4 nights should cost you around Rs. 8,000. It is possible if you plan to commute by road. While coming out of the temple, don’t miss the famous Blue lassi that has got all kinds of flavors.

Though you will find this temple to be quite peaceful but stay cautious of the priest, they may ask for the tribute that has no limit. You can always choose to pay the amount you wish to contribute.

Sankath Mochan Hanuman Mandir  and Sarnath, Varanasi (UP)

Another famous temple that you can plan to visit in the sacred city of Banaras now called Varanasi in Sankath Mochan. It’s famous for so many reasons. Iskcon (Mathura ) and Banke Bihari UP

Iskcon has been my all favorite time temple. As a kid, I used to like it because of its chocolate “Prasad.” Off lately, I started enjoying the peaceful and hygiene ecosystem here. One of the best Iskcon temples that people often don’t miss to visit is in Matura. The maintenance there is quite well. You can spend hours there in meditation without getting bothered about the crowd.  

Vaishno Devi, Jammu, Shree Amarnath Cave Temple and Raghunath Mandir, J& K

If you stay in India, then you certainly can’t miss the famous Vaishno Devi Temple. It is the most visited Hindu temple in India. Moreover, it is one of the best trek that people of any age would cherish. Nowadays, the temple has facilitated helicopter service for those who can’t walk.  

You can pre-book your travel and visit here for so many reasons. While planning a trip here, you can combine it with other lesser-known yet magnificent temples to visit. They are Amarnath Cave and Raghunath Mandir.  

Manikaran Temple, Baijnath Temple and Kalkaji Mandir(Shimla), HP  

All the above-listed temples are quite famous in Himachal. Manikaran can be visited while taking a trip to Kasol. Likewise, you can add Baijanth and Kalkaji in your itinerary.

South India is another religious hub. There are many known temples in East, West, and Central India as well that you should not miss.
